Homeland
Upon completing his service in the Israel Defense Forces, Kobi Zucker needed to get away from from the pressures of the ongoing struggles of the Middle East. With memories of his tour of duty in the territories fresh in his mind, he comes to New York City on his way to South America. While working to earn money for his trip, Kobi meets the girl of his dreams. Beautiful and intelligent, Leila is everything that Kobi has ever wanted. But Leila is Palestinian, having come to New York from the West Bank with her family following the death of her oldest brother during the Intifada. Despite their differences, Kobi and Leila fall in love, but can this love overcome the ancient hatreds and unhealed wounds dividing Israelis and Palestinians?
Michael Eldridge is directing this film, which was written by Brad Rothschild. In association with Red Shield Pictures, Homeland is the first feature film produced by Barataria Productions. Check back here for updates, festival information and release dates!
Exodus
The ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan is one of the gravest tragedies of this generation. As the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children by the government-backed Janjaweed militia continues unabated, millions of Sudanese have been forced to flee their homes. Many of the refugees are displaced in Sudan, while others have been crammed into refugee camps in neighboring Chad. An additional several hundred thousand Sudanese have fled to Egypt. As conditions in Egypt have become increasingly difficult, some 300 Sudanese refugees have run to, of all places, Israel. Because Sudan and Israel don't have diplomatic relations, over 200 of the Sudanese refugees are currently being held in Israeli prisons. As a nation of refugees from persecutions and Holocaust, what does Israel owe these refugees from genocide? This is the question that Exodus will attempt to answer.
Barataria Entertainment has secured access to a large number of these refugees in Israel,
as well as to members of the Israeli government, United Nations officials, and the Israeli action committee that has taken on the refugees' cause. Exodus will be Barataria Entertainment's first feature-length documentary film.
